BEFORE:
This family had a well-kept lawn
and a small patio, but they wanted more room for entertaining, a
fire pit, and more variety of plantings. The main features that
needed to
stay were the large basketball court, and a nice storage shed.
|
|

Before: The lawn took up most of
the yard, with a few plantings around the edge. A beautiful greenbelt stretches behind the property. |

Before:
A small concrete patio next to the house didn't leave much room for
seating. |
Before:
The basketball court
takes up a large area, but is a great feature for the kids that
needed to stay. |
|
AFTER: |
|

After:
While the basketball court is
still visible, the new screen made of cedar and stained glass panels
provides a
dividing line between the entertaining zone, and the court.
|
|

Screen viewed from court side. A
second screen is located
at the far side of the patio. |

A large birdbath rock was turned
into a spilling water feature that adds movement and interest. |
|

The new patio of 2'x2'
architectural slabs is laid at a 45-degree angle. The patio is now
big enough for a dining table and chairs, as well as another sitting area.
A crape myrtle tree will grow and provide late summer flowers, and
has an uplight on it for pretty nighttime effects. |

The new yard also includes a
firepit plumbed with natural gas. Plantings will grow and soften the
fence. |
